Our History

Park Engineering was founded by the late Edward K. S. Park in 1944. From its modest beginnings as a sole proprietorship, Mr. Park grew his civil engineering practice into a bona fide business enterprise. Mr. Park was later joined by his brother to form a partnership known as Park and Park. The firm expanded its service offering to include civil engineering, structural engineering and land surveying.

In 1958, the structure of the firm changed to a corporation known as Park Engineering, Inc. and added planning and landscape architecture to its array of professional services.  The firm thrived during these years of expansive growth in the islands and had a large part in the development of the communities of Momilani, Pacific Palisades, Village Park, and Hawaii Kai. Land development became a core business sector for the firm as it was positioned to provide the full complement of professional services for site development which included topographic surveying, infrastructure planning, cadastral mapping, civil engineering design, construction support, and construction stakeout services.

With the untimely passing of Mr. Park and subsequent changes to the company leadership, the corporate structure of the firm eventually transitioned to ParEn, Inc. in 1986.  The firm retained the identity of Park Engineering as its dba name to provide continuity in the practice and the tradition of excellence that the firm had developed. Park Engineering continued as one of the premier land development professional services firms in the state, working on residential projects in Royal Kunia, Mililani Mauka and Ewa by Gentry. The firm also worked on major government infrastructure projects such as Honolulu International Airport Improvements, Interstate Route H-3 Unit 1, and the Kalihi Valley Reconstructed Sewer project.

Today, Park Engineering continues to provide outstanding professional services in the areas of Civil Engineering, Infrastructure Planning, Land Surveying, and Cadastral Mapping. Our team currently consists of 13 licensed Civil Engineers and 3 licensed Land Surveyors.

In 2019, Park Engineering was awarded the Younger Member Employer Recognition Award by the American Society of Civil Engineers’ (ASCE) Committee of Younger Members (CYM).  This recognition is given to employers who support professionals early in their careers and encourage their involvement in ASCE activities
